Links Anyone Can Open
Welcome tab, Wrap, Share. A published link opens in any browser with no account and no login. A show can hold up to 20 links, each with its own name and its own choice of sections: one for the crew's group chat, one for the producers with the money on it, one for the wrap party screen. Publishing, updating and unpublishing take an editor. Viewers can see the links and copy them.
Making a Link
Click New link.
- Give it a name. The name never appears on the page. It is there so you can tell your links apart.
- Tick the sections under On the page. Everything starts ticked except the producers' figures.
- Set Names in the credits.
- Pick a backdrop, and write a note for the top if you want one (up to 280 characters).
- Click Preview. It shows the page exactly as the link will.
- Click Publish the link.
- #1Imogen Hale as Ruth Kessler15 days
- #2Desmond Achebe as Walt Kessler12 days
- #3Lena Sorensen as Nora Pike9 days
What a Viewer Sees
The page is drawn from a snapshot taken the moment you publish. It shows the shoot as it stood then, and reads nothing else from the production.
| On the page | Detail |
|---|---|
| The top card | The title as the call sheet sets it, the company, the dates, the director and the headline numbers. The company logos stay in the app. |
| Your note | At the top, signed with the name of whoever last published the link |
| The ticked sections | The same sections as the app's Wrap, plus Day by day, which is on by default for links |
| The map | Only with Where we shot ticked |
What a Link Never Carries
The snapshot has no phone numbers, emails or pay rates in it at all. Three choices go further and take data out of the stored copy, so it cannot reach a viewer by any route:
- Names, when Names in the credits is off. Departments show headcounts and the cast shows characters only.
- The money section, unless ticked.
- Overtime, unless ticked. Ticked without the money, it shows hours and meal penalties and leaves the costs out.
The Producers' Figures
The box headed "Producers' figures. Off unless you tick them." holds The shoot in money and Overtime. It only appears for Producer-level members. If somebody without that access publishes with either one switched on, the server switches it off.
The Link Card
The picture on the right, under "What a feed shows before anyone taps", is the preview a messaging app or social site draws when the link is posted. It is dark whatever the app's theme, and it shows the map when the link does. Card image opens the picture itself. Messaging apps and social sites cache previews. After an update, the new card shows on new posts of the link. Old posts keep the old picture.
Sending It
Each published link carries Copy, a button to open it, Share on devices that offer it, then X, LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp and Email. The line under the link's name says how many sections it shows, whether names are off, whether money is on, how many times it has been opened, and when and by whom it was last published. Building the preview card does not count as a view.
Updating a Link
A link is a snapshot, so it falls behind as the shoot moves on. The card says so: "This link shows 18 days; the shoot is now at 22. Edit and update it to catch up." Click the pencil, change anything you like, and click Update the link. The URL stays the same, so the copy already in the group chat shows the new version.
Unpublishing
Click the bin icon on a link. The confirmation reads "This link stops working for everyone who has it." Click Unpublish. Anyone opening it after that gets "This Wrap is no longer shared." Your other links keep working.
