Our Story

G-Casper Pro is developed by CineTools, a division of Prodigium led by producer and filmmaker Tobias Deml. It's the same team that created the original G-Casper template, which became the go-to solution for over 10,000 filmmakers in 127 countries who needed reliable, professional call sheets with ubiquitous tools.

Creator of G-Casper Pro

Tobias Deml has spent over 20 years building a reputation in the entertainment industry. He directed the HBO Max docu-series Gaming Wall St, shot 14 feature films, and created G-Casper, one of the most popular open source call sheet software in the industry with 15,000+ users in 120+ countries.

While a filmmaker at heart, Tobias has been building production tools for nearly 20 years. He started with the Cinema4D XPresso expansion OBAN 1.0 in 2006 — which allowed CGI artists to distribute objects like trees in Maxon's software to generate forests and other organic environments before the software had a tool for this. As a producer of both narrative and unscripted projects, he went on to build G-Casper in 2018. He is a member of the Producers Guild of America and co-founder of the Impact+Profit Conference in Los Angeles.

Now, G-Casper Pro takes everything that made the original great and adds powerful new features like automatic SMS distribution, stable weather integration, and support for productions of any size.

Building the Film Industry Standard

G-Casper was based on the pioneering CASPER call sheet, which became the de-facto industry standard after its release in 2012. Before CASPER, every AD had to build their own call sheet from scratch in Excel, often with little to no automation. CASPER changed all that as the first truly automated and intelligent Excel sheet. CASPER was originally created in 2012 by Paul Silver, Elion Olson, and Michael R. Williams. You can check out the original CASPER here.

We then created G-Casper as the logical next step once Google Sheets became powerful enough to handle the level of formulas required to automatically fill a call sheet front with breakdown info, and expanded the original functionality with 30 more features and realtime collaboration in 2017-2018.

Paul Silver is an accomplished Assistant Director whose credits include The Mandalorian, F9: The Fast Saga, and Gangster Squad.

Elion Olson is a veteran Assistant Director known for his work on Machete, Dope, and Gloria Bell.

Michael R. Williams is a Producer and UPM whose credits include Garden State, LBJ, Americana, and Operation Varsity Blues. Michael went on to create ThinkCrew, the current gold standard for film scheduling software, as well as the Universal Scheduling Standard which we use for schedule data interoperability.
