Can I import any Excel file?

No. This import only takes Casper and G-Casper files. For other crew or cast spreadsheets, use File > Import from File on the Crew tab or Import Cast List on the Cast tab.

Do I need to export from Google Sheets first?

Yes, if your G-Casper file is in Google Sheets. Go to File → Download → Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). If you already have an .xlsx version of the template, upload that directly.

Does it add to a production I already have?

No. Import For New Production builds a new production from the file. To add crew or cast to an existing show, use the import on the Crew or Cast tab.

Can I import multiple sheets at once?

Yes. Upload the whole workbook. Every sheet is read in one import.

Does G-Casper Pro replace the original G-Casper template?

No. The original free G-Casper Google Sheets template is still available and maintained. G-Casper Pro is a separate paid product with SMS distribution, real-time collaboration, production reports and the rest.

Importing from Casper/G-Casper Excel Templates

Moving from G-Casper to G-Casper Pro

G-Casper Pro uses the same call sheet layout as the G-Casper spreadsheet and adds SMS distribution, real-time collaboration, automatic weather, Day Out of Days, SAG Exhibit G and daily production reports. If your show already lives in a Casper or G-Casper Excel file, import it and carry on from there.

Tip: The original G-Casper Google Sheets template is still free. G-Casper Pro is a separate product built by the same team.

What Carries Over

From a recognized Casper or G-Casper template, the import brings in:

Crew lists with departments, positions, and contact info
Cast lists with character names and actor information
Scene breakdowns with page counts and descriptions
Shooting schedules

How to Export from G-Casper (Google Sheets)

Before importing, export your G-Casper file from Google Sheets:

Open your G-Casper file in Google Sheets
Go to File → Download
Choose Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
Save the file somewhere you can find it

Import Steps

Once you have the .xlsx file, import it into G-Casper Pro:

Open the app menu and choose Import For New Production (New Import on the dashboard goes to the same page)
Pick the G-Casper tab
Upload your .xlsx file
G-Casper Pro reads every sheet in the workbook and maps the data itself
Check the crew, cast and schedule in the preview
Confirm the import

Template Recognition

The importer knows the column layout of the Casper and G-Casper templates, so there is no column mapping to do.

After the Import

Your crew list and cast are in. Add the shooting location to get weather. Set a general crew call and auto-draft gives you a first pass at call times to adjust. Then send the call sheet by email or SMS.

Tip: Ghost Mode, in the app menu, hides crew and cast names, phone numbers and location addresses, so you can share a finished call sheet as a portfolio sample.
