Why SMS Compliance Matters

Sending text messages for business purposes, including call sheets, is regulated by federal law (TCPA) and carrier requirements. G-Casper Pro handles most of the compliance automatically. Understanding the basics protects you if something goes wrong.

Important: Violations of SMS regulations can result in fines up to $1,500 per message. G-Casper Pro's compliance features help protect you, but understanding consent requirements is still important.

Opt-In Requirements

Before you can send SMS call sheets to someone, they must opt in (agree to receive messages). G-Casper Pro provides two ways to collect consent:

Opt-In MethodHow It Works
Production InviteWhen a crew member is invited to the production, they can opt in to SMS notifications as part of accepting the invite
Deal MemoConsent is collected as part of the deal memo paperwork during onboarding
Tip: Deal memo consent gives you documented proof of opt-in from the start of the engagement.

STOP Keyword Handling

By law, anyone can opt out of receiving your messages by replying 'STOP.' G-Casper Pro handles this automatically:

  • When someone replies STOP, they're immediately unsubscribed
  • They receive a confirmation that they've been unsubscribed
  • Their crew profile is updated to show 'SMS Opted Out'
  • They won't receive future SMS call sheets unless they re-subscribe
  • You're notified when a crew member opts out
Important: Never manually re-enable SMS for someone who has replied STOP. This violates regulations. If they want to receive messages again, they must re-opt-in themselves.

A2P 10DLC Compliance

A2P (Application-to-Person) messaging using 10DLC (10-digit long codes) is the compliant way to send business SMS in the US. G-Casper Pro is fully registered and compliant:

International Considerations

If you're sending call sheets to crew with international numbers, additional regulations may apply. G-Casper Pro supports international SMS with country-specific compliance. Contact support for guidance on specific countries.
