SMS Opt-In Compliance

Built-in TCPA/10DLC compliant opt-in management for SMS distribution, with support for digital opt-in and deal memo consent.

Sending call sheets via SMS is incredibly convenient, but it comes with legal requirements. TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) and 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) regulations require documented consent before sending commercial text messages. G-Casper Pro builds compliance directly into the SMS distribution workflow so you can focus on production, not telecom law.

How Opt-In Management Works

The compliance system handles consent at every stage. Two paths are available: deal memo consent and digital opt-in. Both log a timestamped record for TCPA and 10DLC audit purposes.

  1. Crew member added to production
  2. Two consent paths: use one or both
  3. Track: Primary: Deal Memo
  4. Include SMS consent clause in deal memo
  5. Crew member signs deal memo
  6. AD marks Opted In in crew or cast list
  7. Track: Backup: Digital Opt-In
  8. System sends opt-in invitation via SMS
  9. Decision: Crew response?
  10. Path: Replied YES
  11. Opted In
  12. Path: No reply
  13. Pending. Re-engage before the shoot starts.
  14. Opted In status set — Timestamped and logged for TCPA / 10DLC compliance
  15. Crew member can reply STOP at any time → Opted Out
  16. Only Opted In members receive call sheet SMS distributions
Important: Never add crew members to SMS distribution without their consent. G-Casper Pro's opt-in system is designed to make compliance easy, but the legal responsibility remains with the production.

Productions can also obtain SMS consent through their deal memo or crew start paperwork. If a crew or cast member signs a deal memo that includes an SMS consent clause, the AD can manually mark that person as opted in directly in the crew or cast list. No digital opt-in message needed. Below is a sample paragraph you can include in your deal memo or crew start packet:

Tip: Sample deal memo SMS consent clause: "I consent to receive production-related text messages, including but not limited to daily call sheets, schedule updates, and location information, sent by [Production Company Name] via G-Casper Pro to the mobile number I have provided. I understand that message and data rates may apply, and that I may revoke this consent at any time by replying STOP to any message or by notifying the production office."

When you have obtained consent through a deal memo or other paperwork, you can manually mark a crew or cast member as opted in:

  • Navigate to the Crew or Cast tab
  • Find the member you want to mark as opted in
  • Click their SMS consent status indicator
  • Set their status to opted in
  • The system logs the manual opt-in with a timestamp for your records
