Two Kinds of Failure
A soft failure is temporary. The mail server was busy, the handset was off the network, the provider deferred and will retry. A hard failure will happen again on every attempt: a landline cannot receive a text, and a mailbox that does not exist will never accept one.
| What you see | Resend? | Real fix |
|---|---|---|
| Deferred | No, the provider retries | Wait |
| Soft bounce | Yes | Usually nothing |
| Hard bounce | No | Correct the email address |
| Sending failed (SMS) | Once | Check the number is a mobile |
| Undeliverable | No | Get a working number |
| No address | Nothing was attempted | Add the address to the record |

Resending
Resend to one person from their row, or resend to everyone who failed in one action. A resend writes a new attempt on the same day, so the report shows both the original failure and what happened the second time.
The Blanks Are Not the Same
A channel with nothing in it means one of two things. Nothing was sent, or nothing could be sent. The second is a missing phone number or email in the crew record, and it is worth fixing before the next send rather than after it.
When Nobody Got It
A whole send failing is different from three people failing. Check that the production has SMS enabled and that the sending number is provisioned. If the provider is down there is nothing to fix on your end, and the AD Control Center will keep the day marked as not distributed until it actually goes.
Consent Comes First
A recipient who replied STOP is not a delivery failure. They opted out, and G-Casper Pro will not text them again until they opt back in. They show as excluded from the send rather than failed, and email still reaches them.
