Schedule Versioning & Reimport

Re-import updated Movie Magic schedules without losing manually-entered call sheet data. A 4-step guided wizard detects scene movements, previews changes, and merges updates safely. G-Casper Pro is currently the only call sheet tool that offers this.

The Problem No One Else Solved

Production schedules change constantly. Scenes move between days, new scenes are added, and shooting order shifts. In every other call sheet tool, re-importing an updated schedule means losing all the call sheet data you had manually entered - call times, notes, crew assignments, everything. The AD is faced with a choice: re-import and redo hours of work, or skip the import and manually reconcile every scene change by hand. G-Casper Pro removes that choice. The Schedule Versioning engine merges schedule updates while preserving all your existing work. Currently, no other call sheet tool in the industry does this.

How Re-Import Works

The re-import process uses a 4-step wizard that guides you through the update:

  • Upload your updated schedule (Movie Magic PDFs, ThinkCrew USS, or Excel)
  • Review detected changes: scenes added, removed, or moved between days
  • Preview the merged result before committing
  • Apply the changes with a single click
  1. Upload updated schedule — Movie Magic PDFs, ThinkCrew USS, or Excel
  2. Compare uploaded schedule to the current version
  3. Decision: What type of change?
  4. Path: New scene
  5. Added without affecting existing call sheet data
  6. Path: Scene moved
  7. All call sheet data carries to the new day
  8. Path: Scene removed
  9. Flagged for review. Held until the AD confirms.
  10. Preview merged result before committing
  11. Apply changes with one click
  12. Saves a version snapshot automatically. Limit: 20 per production.
  13. Schedule updated. All existing call sheet data carries forward.
Tip: Scenes are the stable unit of identity. When a scene moves from one day to another, G-Casper Pro carries the entire call sheet data with it.

Version History

Every time you import or re-import a schedule, G-Casper Pro saves a version snapshot. You can view your schedule version history to see when changes were made and what was updated. Up to 20 versions are stored per production, giving you a complete audit trail of schedule evolution.

Smart Merge Logic

The merge engine handles complex scenarios automatically:

  • Full day moves carry the entire call sheet to the new day
  • Day splits preserve cast assignments by following scenes
  • Split scenes inherit breakdown data from their parent scene
  • New scenes are added without affecting existing call sheet data
  • Removed scenes are flagged for review and held pending confirmation
Important: Always review the diff summary before applying changes. While the merge engine handles most scenarios, complex multi-day reshuffles may require manual adjustments.
