Day Out of Days (DOOD) Work Tracking

How to use DOOD views to assign and track crew and cast work days.

What is Day Out of Days?

Day Out of Days (DOOD) is an industry-standard report that shows which days each crew member, cast member, or department is assigned to work. DOODs complement your call sheets by showing the big picture of who's working when.

Tip: DOODs track work day assignments. For full production scheduling (breaking down scripts, ordering scenes, planning your shoot), use dedicated tools like ThinkCrew or Movie Magic Scheduling. G-Casper Pro imports from these so your call sheets are built on a solid foundation.

Why DOODs Matter

DOODs help you:

  • Communicate work day assignments with crew and cast
  • Spot gaps or overlaps in assignments
  • Calculate total work days for budgeting and contracts
  • Track start and wrap dates for each person
  • Coordinate department availability across the production

DOOD Views Available

G-Casper Pro provides three DOOD views:

Reading the DOOD Grid

The DOOD is a grid: names/positions on the left, shoot days across the top, status codes in each cell. Crew and Cast DOODs share some codes but have differences:

Setting Work Days

To assign work days:

  • Open the appropriate DOOD view (Crew, Cast, or Background)
  • Click on the cell for the person and day you want to set
  • Select the appropriate status code
  • Repeat for all work days you need to assign
Tip: You can click and drag to set the same status across multiple days at once.

Filtering and Views

Customize your DOOD view:

  • Filter by department to focus on specific teams
  • Hide off days for a condensed view
  • Group by week for a calendar-style layout
  • Export to PDF for sharing

DOOD and Call Sheets

DOODs tie directly into your call sheets. Mark someone as working on a day and they appear on that day's call sheet. Mark them OFF and they don't.
