Customizing Department Layouts

Learn how to reorder departments, add custom columns, and tailor the crew list to your production's needs.

Why Customize Department Layouts?

Every production is different. A music video might have a massive styling department but no construction. A commercial might combine Grip and Electric while a feature keeps them separate. G-Casper Pro lets you organize departments the way your production actually works.

Tip: Take time during prep to set up your departments correctly. It's much easier to organize now than to reorganize with a full crew list.

Reordering Departments

Department order on your call sheet back affects how easily crew can find themselves. To reorder:

  • Go to Production Settings > Departments
  • Drag departments up or down to reorder them
  • Changes apply immediately to all call sheets
  • The new order appears on both screen and printed call sheets

Standard Department Order

G-Casper Pro starts with an industry-standard order, but you can modify it freely:

Creating Custom Departments

Need a department that doesn't exist in the defaults? Create your own:

  • Go to Production Settings > Departments
  • Click 'Add Custom Department'
  • Enter the department name
  • Position it in your preferred order
  • Add crew members to your new department
Tip: Common custom departments include 'Specialty Rigging,' 'Marine Department,' 'Aerial Unit,' or 'VFX Supervisors.'

Adding Custom Columns

Beyond the standard columns (Name, Position, Call Time, Phone), you can add custom columns to capture additional information:

Important: Custom columns with sensitive information (like rates) can be set to only appear in internal views, not on distributed call sheets.

Hiding Departments from Call Sheets

Mark a department as 'Internal Only' to hide it from printed and distributed call sheets while keeping it visible in your production management views.
