What Are Cast Categories?

Cast Categories work like departments for your crew, but for your cast list. Each category creates a visual amber banner row that groups related cast members together. This makes it easy to scan a long cast list and find performers by their role type, contract status, or any other grouping that makes sense for your production.

Creating & Managing Categories

You can create, rename, and delete cast categories directly from the Cast tab:

  • Click the add button within any category to add a cast member to that group
  • Click on a category name to rename it
  • Drag categories to reorder them in the list
  • Delete empty categories when they are no longer needed
Tip: Common category names include 'Series Regulars', 'Recurring', 'Guest Stars', 'Day Players', and 'Featured Background'. Use whatever grouping works best for your production.

Visual Organization

Each category banner appears as a distinct amber-colored row spanning the full width of the cast table. Cast members listed below the banner belong to that category. This visual structure carries through to your call sheet printouts for a professional, organized appearance.
