Instant Visual Clarity
When you are scanning a call sheet with 12 scenes, you need to instantly distinguish interior from exterior, day from night. The G-Matrix assigns a unique color to every combination of INT/EXT and time of day, creating a visual language that is readable at a glance. This is functional information design that helps ADs, department heads, and crew understand the day's structure in seconds.
The G-Matrix Grid
The system uses a matrix of up to six combinations, each with its own distinct color:
| Setting | Time | Default Color | Visual Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| INT | Day | White (#FFFFFF) | Most common setting, neutral and readable |
| EXT | Day | Yellow (#F5D742) | Signals outdoor work, equipment implications |
| INT | Night | Green (#48BB78) | Interior night shoots, lighting considerations |
| EXT | Night | Blue (#4299E1) | Night exterior challenges, distinct from INT Night |
| INT/EXT | Morning | Salmon (#FFA07A) | Dawn shoots with mixed lighting |
| INT/EXT | Evening | Orange (#FFA500) | Dusk shoots, magic hour work |
Applied Everywhere
G-Matrix colors appear on banner strips, scene lists, the DOOD grid, and production reports. Anywhere a scene is referenced, its G-Matrix color provides instant context. This consistency across every view in the application is built into the foundation of G-Casper Pro, integrated at the data model level rather than applied as surface-level styling.
Fully Customizable
While the default G-Matrix colors are designed for optimal readability and industry convention, you can customize every color in the matrix. Some productions prefer high-contrast palettes, others want more subtle differentiation. Your custom colors propagate across every banner strip and scene reference throughout the application.
